This month, we have another Q&A, but this time you'll meet Andrea Ruede who might be a familiar face to some of you from around the community! As you read, you'll learn Andrea has now been on many sides of the Foundation from student herself to now supporter and parent of a student recipient.
Q: How has the Chamber Foundation scholarship(s) been able to assist in reaching your academic and ultimately career goals?
I was the first master’s level scholarship recipient. At the time, I was a nurse manager looking for personal growth and development, as well as a better understanding of business concepts. With a healthcare background, an understanding of business did not come easy to me. With the help of the scholarship, I was able to achieve my goals of personal growth and development and obtain a master’s in business administration. This degree opened the door for me to be able to receive a promotion in 2023!
Q: Tell us about your current involvement or connection to the Foundation?
Currently I am involved with the Foundation in several ways. I am able to attend the annual Foundation fundraiser to help support the Foundation while also representing OhioHealth. In addition, I am on the committee to help grade applications and most recently was able to MC the scholarship reception for the Spring of 2026.
Q: What are your thoughts on how these scholarships assist both first-time college students, and those returning for additional education?
The scholarship assists first time college students by giving them a head start on achieving their dreams. If first time students are able to help alleviate even just a small amount of financial burden, that helps them focus more on achieving their goals – and it makes it more possible! The fact that students are able to return for additional financial support, speaks volumes for the impact that the foundation has on the futures of the students. Continued support is vital for the overall success of the students education.
