This month, we introduce you to one of our long-time Board members, Tami Nies, as she shares her story of how she became involved in the Foundation and why she chooses to stay involved even as life events have taken her to new corners of Central Ohio.
The Grove City Chamber Foundation was formed in 2013 as a giving extension of the Grove City Chamber. The Foundation provides scholarships to help local students with educational opportunities as well to encourage community support of educational initiatives that create future leaders.
I became involved to help support the vision of improving prosperity of the community through education and personal growth. Education changes lives. I remember receiving a call from Greg asking to meet. I had been volunteering with the Chamber regularly and was excited to hear what Greg wanted to discuss. When he asked me about interest to join the Foundation Board, my answer was a prompt yes. This was another opportunity to serve Grove City and support students to realize their potential. I no longer work in Grove City, but have remained tethered to the community because of its people, their hearts to care for others and sense of connection that shines as a beacon.
