Faces of the Foundation: Meet the Dawkins Family

Remembering and honoring Darrell and Rosey Dawkins through a legacy scholarship

The Grove City Chamber Foundation is proud and honored to award legacy scholarships established by the families for whom the scholarship is named. These legacy scholarships keep alive the memory of these late loved ones and community members, and help continue their legacies in meaningful ways for their families.

Throughout the year, we’ll introduce you to some of the families behind the legacy scholarships who chose the Grove City Chamber Foundation as a way for the memory and legacy of their late loved ones to carry on.

This month, meet the Dawkins family. Greg (board president) and his sister Cheryl established the Darrell and Rosey Dawkins Memorial Scholarship in honor of their parents in 2021.

In Greg’s words below, meet Darrell and Rosey Dawkins.

When our mom passed, my sister, Cheryl and I, wanted to honor the life lessons they taught us. A legacy scholarship in our parents name helped us to honor their memory.

Our parents from an early age taught us the importance of volunteering and giving of one’s time. Dad was involved with the Jaycees and later the Lions. For a number of years mom worked for Greene County Easter Seals and volunteered at a local food bank.

Our parents were involved with their church and volunteered their time to help with a church program “Shoes for the Shoeless”, to provide shoes for underprivileged children.

So, why the Foundation? Dad was a small business owner, Mom worked for several small businesses and non-profits. The scholarship in their name honors the life lessons they taught us and the Foundation scholarship honors our parents.

We’re grateful for families like the Dawkins family who have chosen to set up a legacy scholarship. You can learn more about legacy scholarships with the Grove City Chamber Foundation by clicking here
